The purpose of this survey was twofold. First, the data
provide valuable insight into the visitor profile of attendees at the
2005 Taste-of-Charleston. Secondly, attendees’ responses to
questions related to their assessment of the event should be of value
in preparing for Taste-of-Charleston 2006.
Taste-of-Charleston 2005 received favorable ratings from both
locals and non-resident visitors to the Charleston area.
Friendliness of people, quality of food, and variety of food and
beverage were highlights of the event for those attending.
Taste-of-Charleston 2005 attracted a large number of visitors
to the Charleston area. Fifty eight percent (58%) of non-local
attendees decided to attend Taste-of-Charleston before departing from
home. These non-local visitors predominantly stayed in local lodging
establishments, and with their average stay in the area of 4 nights
clearly contributed significantly to the local economy.
